The results of the 2024 American Undergraduate Mathematical Modeling Competition were announced recently. The College of Mathematics and Physics of Beijing University of Chemical Technology actively organized students to participate in this competition, and finally a total of 12 students won good results, including two teams that won the first prize (Meritorious Winners) and three teams that won the second prize (Honorable Mention).

The American Mathematical Contest in Modeling, sponsored by the American Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications, is the most influential international mathematical contest in modeling in the world. The competition closely focuses on the hot issues in today's society, aiming to cultivate the innovative thinking ability of college students, as well as the ability to solve practical problems by using mathematical thinking methods and information technology means.

Participating in the mathematical Contest in Modeling is a favorable way for students to improve their practical ability, and it is also a concrete measure for the college to improve the quality of talent training. The College of Mathematics and Physics will make unremitting efforts to explore innovative teaching methods, deepen interdisciplinary research fields, and strive to cultivate more innovative talents with solid mathematical foundation, so as to contribute to the "double first-class" construction of the school.
